Hello! My name is Neil, and I’m very passionate about travel.
In addition the usual travel experiences that many people have enjoyed in their lives, particularly in younger days, I spent 15 years working and living in China as an ESL teacher.
While there, I travelled a lot to and from China as well as within China, where I was lucky enough to enjoy the company of work colleagues and Chinese friends who showed me the usual tourist sites frequented by the casual tourist such as the Great Wall near Beijing, the Terracotta Warriors in Xi’an, the Bund and the Oriental Pearl Tower in Shanghai, the Humble Administrator’s Garden in Suzhou, Yuexiu Park in Guangzhou, Window of the World in Shenzhen and so many more.
However, Chinese friends also took me to their home villages on a train ride through rural China passing rice fields, or on a bus trip where we had to wait for a farmer and his wife trying to get a flock of ducks from one side of the road to the other and then herd them through a gate (absolutely hilarious), or to share Chinese New Year with villagers in a small, isolated village (Wow! The fireworks! The food! – a truly amazing experience!).
Now that I’m a little older my travel choices tend to be a little more sedate, but I still enjoy travelling. However, there are just so many choice of places to go, things to do and adventures to enjoy.
But things can go wrong, and it’s important to plan well to minimize the hiccoughs that can impact your dream holiday or absolutely ruin your planned adventure. My goal here is to give you information, hints and tips and travel suggestions that will make it easier for you to plan your trips and make them a whole lot more enjoyable.
Thank you for visiting gotripandtrektravel.com!
All the best,
Neil
